The Key Voting Dates and Deadlines in Kentucky for the 2024 Election
The 2024 General Election is just a couple of months away. In fact, we're exactly eight weeks away from a huge Presidential election and important decisions being made at the state and local levels as well. If you plan to vote here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, there are some key dates and deadlines to be aware of. These dates, provided by the State Board of Elections, apply to every single one of Kentucky's one hundred and twenty-one counties.
If you have not yet registered to vote in the General Election, you still have time to get signed up.
REGISTRATION DEADLINES
IN PERSON (at your local election office): October 7th at the close of business
ONLINE: October 7th by 4:00pm EST
BY MAIL: Registration must be postmarked by October 7th, 2024.
For additional information about voter registration or updating your current registration, you can visit the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Online Voter Registration portal.
ABSENTEE BALLOT DEADLINES
REQUEST BALLOT (received by): October 22nd by 11:59pm EST
RETURN BALLOT BY MAIL (received by): Tuesday, November 5th by 6pm EST.
RETURN BALLOT IN PERSON: Tuesday, November 5th by 6pm EST.
The online portal for absentee ballots will open on Saturday, September 21st.
VOTING DEADLINES
EARLY VOTING (in-person absentee voting): October 31st through November 2nd. *Check specific hours of operation from your local polling precinct.
IN-PERSON: On Election Day- Tuesday, November 5th.
