I’ve Planned Road Trips Around These KY Locations — You Should Too
If you've read enough of what I've written, you've probably come to realize I'm a big road tripper. I love exploring, and that's reflected in some of the stuff I've posted. And yes, I've written about places I have yet to visit; manifestation, party of one.
Sometimes I have no destination in mind, only a direction. Of course, where I live, if the spinner lands on "north," I'll be cruising through Indiana. There's nothing wrong with that; southern Indiana also has a travelers' vibe. There's also a lot of good German-influenced stuff--food, shops, sites in general--in the lower half of the Hoosier State.
Kentucky Road Trips
I come by this love of the road honestly. It wasn't at all uncommon for Dad to just, out of the blue, say, "Hey, we're going somewhere." And off we'd go. And when he said that, we knew he didn't mean we were headed to the mall or a local restaurant. We were GOING somewhere. He loved it. Mom loved it. My sister and I still love it. I can't think of a more enjoyable genetic trait--if that's what this is--than a love for exploring. It extended to our bigger vacations, too. We'd have destinations, but if there was something that looked interesting at any given interchange, Dad would take a look so we could see just how interesting it is. He did that in 1963 in Mitchell SD and discovered the Corn Palace, a structure made entirely of corn. I duplicated the shot 48 years later.
My goal of visiting all 50 states should come as no surprise. But for now, let's focus on OUR state, I mean "Commonwealth." I've fashioned road trips around visits to the following locations. Maybe one day, you will too, if you haven't already.
