Who Is Jack Wharff and Why You Should Go See Him in Owensboro?
We are two weeks into the brand new season of Friday After 5 in downtown Owensboro and, so far, the crowds have been huge and the entertainment has been awesome.
Exhibit A. Here's a look at FA5's 2025 season opener!
This Friday, that Main Stage enertainment, for the first time this season, is going to get 'country.' The Jack Wharff Band is coming to town to headline the Main Stage on Friday, June 6th.
WHO IS JACK WHARFF?
The Jack Wharff Band are the latest in a string of musical acts that have been propelled from TikTok popularity to a major record deal. The Richmond, Virginia band recently moved to Nashville and signed a deal with Big Machine Records. Their sound is described as a 'strikingly unique blend of bluegrass, country, and rock.'
In that song, for instance, I personally hear hints of Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, and, yes, even Garth Brooks. These guys are good. So, who are 'the guys?'
There's Jack Wharff- the lead vocalist. He's backed by Garrett Howell (drums), Ryan Atchison (bass), and Evan Novoa (guitar).
You can catch The Jack Wharff Band at Friday After 5. Singer/songwriter and Owensboro native Hayley Payne will kick things off on the Main Stage with her own brand of country.
This year, Friday After 5 is offering music on two stages downtown. In addition to The Jack Wharff Band with special guest Hayley Payne on the Main Stage, local favorites Flat Stanley will be performing on the Overlook Stage.
The Kroger Street Fair- with vendors, food trucks, and more- gets underway at 5pm.
