Illinois Museum Home For Sale With Amazing “Poo”tential
I love a good museum. My family does too, so any time we travel somewhere, we try to find one and learn more about the area. The quirkier, the better really.
Dr. Poos' House Museum
There is a museum in Okawville, Illinois that has recently hit the market. I have never met someone with the last name of Poos, but according to locals, this property was built in 1888 and is named after the man who bought the house in 1890. Dr. Robert Poos lived there with his wife and children and operated the drug store in town. He was also a physician at the Washington Springs Hotel and Bathhouse.
Heritage House Museum in Okawville, Illinois
The home was eventually sold to the Heritage House Museum Complex and was filled with hundreds of photos, clothes, antique medical equipment, and other artifacts from the area. However, the museum announced they would have to sell the property this Fall. So, the Poos House Museum is on the market.
The "Poos"-ibilities Are Endless
If you've ever wanted to curate your own museum, now is your chance. While the contents have seemingly been re-homed, that just means it's a clean slate for the next owner to do what they wish. What could you fill this home for visitors to look at? You could always just live there. It's an absolutely beautiful space full of rich history. Although it does need some updating, it is just bursting at the seams with personality. The unique windows are one of my favorite features.
Here's a link to the listing and keep scrolling to see what it looks like inside and around the property.
