When I think of s'mores, the first thing that comes to mind is the scene from The Sandlot where Ham Porter explains to "Smalls" what they are.

"You're killing me Smalls!" As Ham lists out ingredients of graham crackers, chocolate, and roasted marshmallows he puts together what we all know as the ultimate campfire treat. Messy, but worth it. Unless you are my husband who doesn't like marshmallows, what a weirdo!

He would very much prefer this new kind of S'more I recently discovered. My first thought was how have humans not thought of this before? It's genius. Now, I've made variations of S'mores before. With Reese's peanut butter cups instead of Hershey bars, Peeps instead of regular marshmallows, but never one that totally foregoes any sweet components.

How to Make Savory S'mores

Savory S'mores are the new trend in camping or bonfire snacks. Ingredients are whatever your heart desires as long as they contain some kind of cheese. Mostly, I've seen folks use Babybel rounds. They're the perfect shape and size to stick on your skewer or stick and roast over the fire. Just peel off the wax, pop it on, and watch it get golden and bubbly.

Once the cheese is gooey and soft, you put it on the cracker of your choice. I saw someone use Triscuits and that is what I'll be trying. My favorites are the cracked pepper and olive oil, but they have all kinds of flavors these days.

I also highly recommend slapping on some pepperoni, salami, or prosciutto. Whatever kind of meat you like on a charcuterie board. A drizzle of some hot honey or pepper jelly on top would really send it over the edge and make your taste buds sing! Here's a video I found of some people trying this out. Lordy! Don't drool on whatever device you're reading this on.
