This Ohio Museum is a Bucket List Visit For All Christmas Lovers

One of the best things about Christmas is the movies! Each and every one of us has a favorite holiday film or TV special we remember and cherish. The first one I can recall is Muppet Family Christmas. It is still a yearly watch in my household as we decorate the tree. It's full of festive songs, humor, and heartwarming moments.

Castle Noel Christmas Movie Museum

A Christmas Story, Elf, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the list of classics old and new goes on and on. There is a very special place in Ohio that is basically a mecca for all things Holiday. It's appropriately named Castle Noel and is located in Medina not far from Cleveland. About a 6.5-hour drive from the tri-state area.

Vintage Department Store Christmas Displays

The world’s largest privately owned collection of Hollywood Christmas movie props and costumes takes over the 40,000 square feet museum. There are also vintage department store window displays from Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, and Macy’s complete with animatronic scenes. You will feel like you've gone back in time "to a magical land called 'New York City.'"

Vintage Toy Museum Exhibit

Another cool exhibit is the "I Had That" Toyland Experience. With a huge collection of toys from the 50s to the 80s, you'll be saying "I had that" as you walk through and remember the joys of Christmas as a kid.

A Christmas Story Santa Slide

Speaking of, one of the movie props in the collection is the Santa Slide set piece from A Christmas Story! Kids of all ages are encouraged to take a slide down just like Ralphie did. Anyone over the age of 80 who zips down it will get their picture put on the Castle Noel "Wall of Fame." According to the website, the oldest slide rider is 101 (and a half) years old.
