If your family is anything like mine, the holiday season is never complete until we’ve bundled up and wandered through twinkling lights with Santa hats on. Christmas light displays are one of my favorite things about this season, and this weekend my family finally has time to go see some, and I'm adding a new stop to our itinerary this year: Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois.

What Is Cantigny?

For those that don't know, (including me), Cantigny sits on the former 500-acre property of Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the former editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune.

Located at 1S151 Winfield Road in Wheaton, Cantigny features not only an award-winning botanical garden and 3 miles of walking trails, but the park also features a history museum, a playground, and even a 300-acre golf complex!

Christmas at Cantigny

Cantigny hosts many events, parties, and weddings throughout every season, but at Christmas it transforms into a holiday wonderland complete with dazzling light displays set to music, ice skating, and Poinsettias grown in their very own greenhouse.

Each year Christmas at Cantigny gets even bigger and brighter, and for 2025 they've added two new theme nights, 'A Wickedly Popular Christmas' and 'Lights, Camera, Action!', but there's a catch. These theme nights only take place on certain days.

Right now everyone seems to be cuckoo for Wicked, and Cantigny is celebrating it with  'A Wickedly Popular Christmas' light show set to the music and colors of Wicked and The Wizard of Oz.
