A woman in Illinois recently had her very own Griswold moment when she had to call the local police about a unique home intruder.

Unwanted Visitor Ends Up In Illinois Home

A couple of weeks ago, when I got home something unusual happened. As I was waiting for my garage door to open so I could pull in, I saw a squirrel hanging out in the driveway. Right before I started to move, the animal made a mad dash inside.

The squirrel ran all the way to the back of the garage and tried climbing the wall. It fell to the ground behind some stuff, so I couldn't see where it went. I tried honking the horn, making loud noises, and making the garage door go up and down but no squirrel.

I left the door open and went into the house. I was hoping the squirrel would leave. I went back out a few minutes later the animal was gone. I started thinking about what would happen if an animal like that got into my home. That would be scary.

Recently, a woman in Hinsdale had that exact problem. Her husband called the police because she was home alone and so freaked out. Somehow a squirrel got into their house. It went straight for the Christmas tree to hide.

One cop heard the call and was so interested in the situation that he volunteered to respond. Not long after he arrived on the scene, the man gave his fellow officers the all-clear sign. He was able to get the squirrel out of the house without incident.

That was a good day's work for the Hinsdale police department. I'm guessing the woman won't be watching "Christmas Vacation" over the holidays. Hopefully, her new little friend won't be coming back.
