I go to Devil's Lake at least once a month to hike. There are so many beautiful waterfalls to see and the hike is incredible. There are picnic spots to relax at, too!

This is my favorite forest preserve, by far. It's such a fun place to explore! Plus, if you go at different times of the year, it looks completely different - especially in fall and winter. Breathtaking views.
Picnic, canoe, kayak, hike, and fish! So much to do at Rock Cut, plus it's right in my hometown so I frequent this state park a lot year-around.

Also, if you have pets take them on the hike with you! My boyfriend brings his dog with us every time we go hiking and she absolutely loves it. Whether you need to get away from the city or want a day with your family outdoors this fall, forest preserves are always a great option.
