More than 634,000 Frigidaire-brand minifridges have been recalled, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), due to serious fire and burn hazards.

Why the Frigidaire Mini Fridges Are Being Recalled

The recall was announced on July 24, 2025, after more than two dozen reports of the units overheating, sparking, smoking, melting, and catching fire, resulting in over $700,000 in property damage and two reported smoke inhalation injuries.

The recall involves Frigidaire-brand minifridges in both 6- and 9-can sizes. The minifridges were sold between January 2020 and December 2023 nationwide, including in Indiana and Kentucky. The products were sold in a variety of colors, including black, blue, green, white, yellow, red, pink, and silver.

Where These Mini Fridges Were Sold

The recalled products were manufactured by ShangYu North Electron Manufacture Co., Ltd., of China, and imported by Curtis International Ltd.. The affected models were sold at retailers nationwide, including Walmart stores, as well as online at Walmart.com and on Amazon.

Which Models Are Affected by the Recall

The impacted products include the following models and serial number ranges:

  • EFMIS129 Between A2001 to A2308
  • EFMIS137 Between A2001 to A2312
  • EFMIS149 Between A2001 to A2308
  • EFMIS175 Between A2001 to A2310

If the model number is “EFMIS129-B” or EFMIS129-C”, it is not included in this recall.

According to the press release shared by the CPSC, the product can short-circuit, creating a fire risk.

The minifridges’ internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite the surrounding plastic housing, posing fire and burn hazards. -CPSC
