Capybaras may be the largest species of rodents in the world, but these adorable creatures are anything but pests!
What is a Capybara?
Minus being a ridiculously catchy song on the internet (if you haven't heard the capybara song, just take a listen here), capybaras are an adorable species of rodent that are native to South America.
Now, don't let the fact that capybaras are rodents scare you; these furry friends won't infest your home. According to National Geographic, capybaras are semi-aquatic mammals that are closely related to guinea pigs and rock cavies.
The Indianapolis Zoo Capybara Adventure
The Indianapolis Zoo is no stranger to hosting interesting animal adventures where people can get a behind-the-scenes and up-close look at some of their favorite animals. If getting up close to a capybara and maybe even sharing some treats with him sounds like your idea of a fun day, you will love the fact that the Indianapolis Zoo offers a special animal adventure with a capybara.
The Capybara Adventure will take place on select dates from March 21st through August 31st, 2025. The event comes with a chance to meet and hang out with Fezzik the capybara. Guests will get the rare opportunity to not only see Fezzik up close they will be able to feed him treats and give him plenty of pets too!

Don’t worry, be capy! Come meet Fezzik, one of the world’s largest living rodents!
In this limited-time experience, hang out with Fezzik the capybara and learn all about what makes these rodents of unusual size so special. Participants in this program will meet Fezzik up-close and have an opportunity to touch and offer him a snack.
All participants must be at least 6 years old. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a paid adult participant.
