7lbs of Fried Goodness! Indiana Restaurant Serves Up a Titanic Tenderloin
Hoosiers love pork tenderloin sandwiches, and one Indiana restaurant serves up a gargantuan sandwich for the ultimate pork tenderloin lover.
The Tenderloin Sandwich
Few things say "Hoosier" more than a gigantic pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich is known throughout the state because the pork tenderloin itself is often so big, that it makes the sandwich buns look comically small. An article from Eater highlights the popularity of the tenderloin sandwich, and even has this to say about Indiana's unofficial state sandwich:
The pork tenderloin sandwich is central to the state’s cultural identity. Some say it’s exactly like the people in Indiana: simple, not too showy, sometimes a little too big for its britches. Above all, it’s familiar and reliable — and to a displaced Hoosier (as I once was), it’s home.
You can walk into just about any locally owned establishment in Indiana and find a pork tenderloin sandwich on the menu. It sometimes seems like restaurants have unspoken battles over who serves the biggest pork tenderloin sandwich. However, there's one restaurant that serves a pork tenderloin sandwich that weighs 7lbs! It just might be the biggest pork tenderloin sandwich in the state!
One Eyed Jack's
Located in Winimac, Indiana, is One Eyed Jack's, they are known for serving up jumbo-sized pork tenderloin sandwiches. They're home to a tenderloin sandwich that's so big, that they can fit two buns on one tenderloin, and it still hangs off the buns! Since tenderloins are their specialty, it makes sense that they would also have a tenderloin challenge for the biggest pork tenderloin fans.
The Titanic Tenderloin Challenge
One Eyed Jack's has a challenge called the Jack's Titanic 2Handed Pork Tenderloin Challenge. The challenge gives you one hour to eat a pork tenderloin sandwich that weighs 7lbs, and on top of that, you'll need to down 2lbs of tater tots. If you finish the challenge within an hour you get the sandwich and tots for free, as well as a t-shirt, and your picture on One Eyed Jack's Wall of Fame.
