For the past few years, Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding has been dedicated to improving the lives of veterans through equine-assisted activities. They offer these services free of charge, making a significant impact in our community. As someone with many family members who have served in our nation’s armed forces, I couldn't be more thrilled to see a mission like this in the tri-state area.
Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding sessions promote life skills, emotional regulation, well-being, and improved psychosocial functioning for veterans coping with the physical and emotional wounds of war. According to the organization, there are over 13,000 veterans in Vanderburgh County. Additionally, one in four of those veterans suffers from PTSD.
How You Can Support Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding
The organization pictured above was one of several I met this week at the 103rd West Side Nut Club Fall Festival during the WKDQ Fall Festival Booth Takeover. On Monday, October 7, I had the opportunity to spend time with Rachelle and Tracey, who were selling coffee and teas to raise funds for Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding. If you would like to support their efforts, you can also stop by for refreshments during the festival at booth #16. Additionally, they have another event coming up next month for veterans and families interested in connecting with the organization.
