Meet brothers Cottage Cheese and Blue Cheese, our Pets of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society.

Cottage and Blue Cheese's Story

Us little piggies are ready to go wee, wee, wee all the way to your home! Hi, I’m Cottage Cheese, and I’m Blue Cheese! We’re a bonded pair of guinea pig brothers who have been at the VHS since early December. Did you know that we’re social animals and live in herds in the wild? Even though we do enjoy a good piggy party, you don’t need a large crew to keep us happy. As long as we stay together, you will find two to be plenty!

What Are Bonded Guinea Pigs?

According to The Tiny Herd, guinea pigs live in herds in the wild and "thrive when they are able to interact with other guinea pigs." That doesn't mean they can't be alone, but once they've bonded like Cottage and Blue Cheese have, it's best to keep them together.

The good news is, it won't cost you much to take both Cottage and Blue Cheese. Their adoption fee at the VHS is $50 for the pair which is a deal because the normal adoption fee for one is $30.

If you're interested in Cottage and Blue Cheese or any of the other guinea pigs, dogs, cats, or rabbits up for adoption at the Vanderburgh Humane Society, get a jump on the adoption process by filling out some of the paperwork in advance on the VHS website.

TRI-STATE ADOPTABLE PETS THAT LOOK LIKE COUNTRY STARS

From Morgan Wallen to Chris Stapleton to Dolly, Reba, and more, we found 16 dogs (and one cat just to be fair) on Petfinder we think, at the very least, share a few similar features with several of your favorite Country Music artists. What do you think? Keep scrolling to judge for yourself and whether or not you agree or disagree, keep in mind that all the animals you see are looking for their forever family (or is it "fur-ever" family?) at one of the animal shelters right here in the Tri-State. We even included links in the description of each one that will take you right where you need to go to find out how you can adopt them if you see one you feel like you can't live without.
