ITV Gravely Ill Dog Makes It Thru Surgery, Has a New Name
Earlier this week, the local rescue It Takes a Village Canine Rescue posted about a dog that they saved. The dog was scheduled to be put down because of his condition.
We just received an urgent text that this guy would be euthanized if we could not help. How could we say no? He is on his way to us now and will need immediate vet care.
The dog has obviously been through some horrific things but the rescue didn't know what his injuries were attributed to. Today, ITAVCR posted about the dog's injuries.
UPDATE on the little guy we posted yesterday that was in bad shape.
It’s pretty bad. His humerus bone is completely gone from infection that has been there awhile. We do not know the outcome or if he will make it, but Dr. Kennedy is going to do his best. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers today as he is in surgery now.
Completely heartbreaking. ITV knew it would be a long shot for the dog to even make it out of surgery but they asked the community to help come up with a name. After hundreds of comments came in, they decided to name him Kennedy after the veterinarian who treated him. They are asking for donations to help fund the dog's surgery and recovery.
UPDATE - We have named him Kennedy.
Kennedy made it through surgery which Dr. Kennedy did not think would happen. He’s still in rough shape but has eaten a small amount and drank some water. His leg and whole shoulder had to be amputated and the tissue will be sent off to see what kind of infection had set in. He is a fighter and we will keep praying for him. Thank you to everyone who has donated to this little fighter and to everyone who had suggested names. They were all great names.
