DOODLES LOVE TO EAT EVERYTHING

Angel here and our family has two doodles, Layla and Lilly. If you have doodles you know they are professional counter surfers.  They can spot and swipe a hamburger or a hot dog and with one swoop of the tongue have it before you can say "NOOOOO".  It's a natural thing for dogs to go searching for food especially since they have an incredible sense of smell.  They smell something they like they go on the hunt to find it.  Our girls do that quite often and sometimes it's not good.

DOGS SHOULD NEVER EAT THESE FOODS

I've had dogs my whole life and thought I knew a lot about taking care of them.  My mom was a vet tech and a groom so we always had dogs in our house.  One thing all of our dogs always loved was grapes.  Harmless, right?  NO, they could be very harmful and I had no idea.  My oldest doodle, Layla is obsessed with them and a few years ago I learned they could actually be very dangerous for her.  A lot of the foods we eat that are great for digestive system can do just the opposite for our sweet four-legged friends.

According to ASPCA;

Although the toxic substance within grapes and raisins is unknown, these fruits can cause kidney failure. Until more information is known about the toxic substance, it is best to avoid feeding grapes and raisins to dogs.

Here's a list of other foods that you should not feed your pups:

  • Anything containing Xylitol (sweetener)
  • Chocolate, coffee and caffeine
  • Onions, garlic and chives
  • Raw/undercooked meat, eggs and bones
  • Grapes and raisins
  • Salt and salty snack foods
  • Nuts
  • Alcohol
  • Avacodo
  • Apple stems and seeds (the fruit is fine)

All these foods could be seriously toxic to your animals.  Each dog just like each person is different and you have to follow these guidelines to keep your pet safe.  Their digestive system is not the same as ours and it could cause grave danger.
