The month of February means a couple of things, Valentine's Day of course, but also Mardi Gras! Once again, the Franklin Street Events Association will celebrate the latter with their 4th Annual Gumbo Cook Off on Saturday, February 18th to benefit local non-profit organizations.

This year's event will feature over 20 local charities teaming up with businesses up and down Franklin Street cooking up their best batch of the Cajun classic in hopes of coming out on top.

If you want in on the gar-on-teed delicious food, you'll need to first purchase a $20 wristband from Lamasco Bar and Grill or Thyme in the Kitchen. But you need to do it quickly as there's only 1,000 available.

New this year is a "greener" way of going about the cook off. During the previous three years, everyone who bought a wristband received disposable cups they would use to sample the various gumbos which obviously created a pretty sizable amount of trash. So this year, your wristband will get you your very own commemorative keepsake bowl that you can use all kinds of soups year-round!

Spoons will also be available for $1.00 each, or you can bring your own from home!
