According to the Indiana Attorney General’s office, the Hoosier consumer filed 15,400 complaints last year, ranging from issues with automotive service, which topped the list for the third consecutive year, to problems with telephone service providers.

However, the list indicates that consumers have a beef with retail stores and home contractors, as this breed of business ranked in at number two and three, respectively, with over 900 complaints.

"The more you are informed, the better your chances to avoid becoming a victim of a fraud, scam or bad business transaction," said Attorney General Greg Zoeller. "That's why National Consumer Protection Week and the state's list of top complaints are so important. Our hope is to educate consumers so that they know what to watch out for and how to protect themselves.”

This week is National Consumer Protection week, and these are the top 10 Indiana consumer complaints:

1. Used Automobile Sales and Service – 1,002 (complaints)
