If you've seen the movie or lived at at time when Secretariat won the famed triple crown, you know why he is deemed "The Horse that God Built." He was and is the fastest horse to ever race.

Even to this day with newcomer American Pharaoh entering the ring and all the performance-enhancing drugs that run rampant in the racing circuit, Secretariat blows them all out of the water. And, at the time of his death, according to many sources, a necropsy was performed on the famed horse upon his passing. Although his heart was 2.5 times the size than that of an average thoroughbred's, there was no evidence of any pathology.

The Wall Street Journal put together this awesome side-by-side of American Pharaoh's Bellmont race against Secretariat's. As you can see, there's pretty much no comparison. Secretariat is still the fastest horse on dirt from 1 3/16 to 1 5/8 miles in history.
