Trump Releases First Political Attack Ad Against Rival Cruz

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is out with his first attack ad aimed at rival Ted Cruz.

The ad paints the Texas senator as an inconsistent politician who once supported allowing the millions of people living in the country illegally to remain.

It also features footage of Cruz stumbling on his words when asked about the issue in December on Fox News.

Trump and Cruz have been engaged in an increasingly hostile war of words as the race narrows in first-to-vote Iowa.

The ad includes Trump discussing his own plan for mass deportations, which he says would be done humanely.

Cruz responded on ABC by describing Trump's position as akin to amnesty because he'd allow many deported people to return legally.
