Still wondering what exactly TIDAL is? You won't have to wait much longer.

Today at 5 p.m. (EST), Jay Z will hold a press conference officially introducing his company's new music-streaming service, TIDAL, and (hopefully) explaining what it'll do that other similar services like Spotify don't. World-class musicians from genres across the spectrum -- including Kanye, Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, Coldplay and many more -- have been showing their support, with many either changing their Twitter avatars to blue or simply sharing the preview video (follow the #TIDALforALL hashtag to keep up):

Presumably, Jay Z has used his direct relationships with many of music's biggest names to secure exclusive deals and packages, though it remains to be seen what that means for listeners. Or artists, for that matter. Swift, for example, recently made headlines by pulling her entire catalog off Spotify. Will her arrangement with TIDAL show us what the future music-streaming will be? Who knows, but we'll probably get at least an idea of how TIDAL plans to differentiate itself.

One clear difference appears to be price. Spotify costs $9.99/month for its premium service, while TIDAL will run you $19.99/month. We're guessing that means higher payouts to artists, which only seems fair. But what precisely will you, the listener, get for doubling your payment? Aside from certain artists and albums exclusively available on TIDAL, the only thing we've heard so far is that TIDAL's sound quality is supposed to be far superior. That's great and all, but is it worth double the price?

Guess we'll find out.
