1868 — The first-ever indoor track and field meet in the U.S. was held at Empire State Skating Rink in New York City. (More info.)

1944 — Army routed Notre Dame, 59—0, at Yankee Stadium in New York, giving the Irish their worst loss in their history. (More info.)

1946 – The New York Knicks played their first game at Madison Square Garden in New York. They lost, 78-68, to the Chicago Stags. (More info.)

1990 — Derrick Thomas of the Kansas City Chiefs registered an NFL-record seven quarterback sacks in a 17-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. (More info.)
