Here are just some of the notable sports moments that happened on December 1:

1924 — The Boston Bruins beat the Montreal Maroons, 2-1, at Boston Arena in the first pro hockey game in the United States. (More info.)

1945 – Army beat Navy, 32-13, for their 18th win in a row. (More info.)

1962 — The Grey Cup, the championship game of the Canadian Football League between Winnipeg and Hamilton, was halted by fog. Winnipeg won 28-27 after the game resumed the next day. (More info.)

1967 — Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia 76ers set an NBA record of 22 missed free throws, but he scored 52 total points in a 133-109 win over the Seattle SuperSonics. (More info.)

2002 — Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons ran for 173 yards to set an NFL single-game record for quarterbacks in a 30-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings. (More info.)
