NBC Orders ‘Office’ Star Craig Robinson’s ‘Mr. Robinson’ to Series

The Office Craig Robinson NBC Series Order Mr Robinson
NBC

Finally! We’d all-but given up hope that ‘The Office‘ vet and ‘Hot Tub Time Machine‘ franchise star Craig Robinson would land back on NBC for his eagerly-anticipated new sitcom, especially after NBC left the series off the most recent development slate, but it seems ‘Mr. Robinson’ will finally move forward with a series order, and a few new tweaks.

Via Deadline, NBC has officially given a six-episode order to the new series, which features the ‘Office’ star (and upcoming ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ guest) as a journeyman musician who gets a job teaching music at a middle school. However, Mark Cullen and Rob Cullen will take over as executive producers and showrunners, following the departure of ‘Office’ developer and executive producer Greg Daniels, along with writer and fellow ‘Office’ alum Owen Ellickson, and Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green.

While Robinson remains aboard the project even after lapsing from the May pickup season, the supporting cast of ‘Mr. Robinson’ remains in contention, as producers must currently renegotiate contracts for the pilot’s cast of Larenz Tate, Amanda Lund and Jean Smart.

Whatever the case, we’re certainly on board to see Robinson back to his NBC roots, after playing ‘The Office”s Darryl for nine seasons, but what say you? Would you be interested in ‘Mr. Robinson,’ even after a few tweaks to its pilot?
