The First 1040 Tax Form [Photos]

A couple of weeks ago, I dropped by AAA Tax Service on Triplett Street here in Owensboro to file my income taxes.  And, while I was waiting for my appointment, I noticed this on the wall.  It's the very first 1040 tax form issued by the federal government.  Take a look.  Back in 1913, it was far simpler than it is today.

The original 1040 was only three pages long.  And the base income tax was a mere 1%.  As you (and your paycheck) can see, times have certainly changed!

Oh, and by the way, if you haven't filled out your 1040 this year, the clock is ticking.  You have until Monday, April 18th to file or request an extension.
