Indiana Children Obesity Rates Remain Unchanged

While child obesity may be a heavy subject in Indiana, there is new data that suggests that the Hoosier “fat kid” isn't sliming down. However, the good news is he doesn't appear to be getting any heavier either.

According to research by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a significant decrease of child obesity over the pat three years across 19 states, while 20 states, including Indiana, have simply stayed the same.

A doctor has proposed putting severely obese children in temporary foster homes.

Dr. David Ludwig, an obesity specialist at Harvard-affiliated Children's Hospital Boston, made this recommendation Wednesday in highly respected 'Journal of the American Medical Association.'

Diet Soda May Make You Pack on the Pounds

By analyzing the results of a 10-year longitudinal study of 474 people, researchers  were able to determine that the participants who drank two or more diet sodas a day experienced a waist size increase 70 percent greater than those who stayed away from diet soda.
