The question of "are they or aren't they" when it comes to the Evansville IceMen moving to Owensboro finally gets an answer after both the city of Owensboro and the team announced a contract has been signed that will put the team inside the Sportscenter in time for the 2016-17 season.
UPDATE: The Evansville Courier-Press reports that Mayor Ron Payne has announced the deal to move the IceMen to the Owensboro Sportscenter is final, and an official announcement will take place later today (Wednesday, January 20th).
On Tuesday, Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne was given authorization by the City Commissioners to bring the IceMen to the Sportscenter. Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke commented on the move through his Twitter account and during conversations with the media following the press conference announcing the team's move.
In what appears to be another step toward a divorce between the City of Evansville and the IceMen, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke held a press conference on Thursday to announce (among other things) the City is exploring the option of bringing in another hockey team now that lease negotiations with the IceMen have reached an "impasse".
