Story At The Movies: RIO

"Rio!" "Rio by the sea-o!" Yes, were talking the Rio in Brazil, the one that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers danced through in "Flying Down to Rio" 'way back in the 1930s. The new "Rio" is about a bunch of daffy birds down South America way chasing around after...something that has escaped me. "Rio" is quite pretty to look at in excellent 3-D, but it's strictly for kids, full of manic action, forgettable songs and characters that just don't register. Forget "Rio" and go see "Rango" if it's still playing in your area. "Rango" is really something special. And, please note the tagline in the attached poster - for once, truth in advertising. "Rio" - 2 stars.
