Best Known For: A colorful and quotable baseball player of the 1980s, Dennis 'Oil Can' Boyd was a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, Montreal Expos and Texas Rangers from 1982 to 1991. Boyd's nickname came from his ability to drink beer, often referred to in the American South as 'oil.' In 2012, Boyd admitted to frequent use of cocaine during his playing career, including pitching while using the drug.
