Gas prices have jumped substantially. This morning we found some gas stations in Evansville as high as $4.24 and a few at $3.99. This morning, using an app like Gas Buddy can save you some money. Even with the high prices, there are some stations that are still charging $3.73.

Statewide the average gas price soared yesterday to nearly $4.16 a gallon, putting us 50 cents above the national average.

Economists say that scheduled maintenance work at BP’s Whiting refinery in northwestern Indiana and at Exxon Mobil’s refinery in Joliet, Ill., have taken longer than expected — reducing regional gas supplies — when a Marathon oil refinery in Detroit was hit by a fire and other refineries had some glitches.
