Sock Hop Kicks Off Colon Cancer Awareness Month

March is colon cancer awareness month. On Saturday night, hundreds of people gathered to dance, bring awareness to colon cancer prevention and celebrate surviving cancer.

The Van Dells played greta songs from the 50s and 60s and the crowd of all ages danced and sang along. It was an honor for me to be asked to emcee for the event.

I know first-hand how screening for colon cancer can be a real life-saver. When I had my first colonoscopy, they found 12 polyps. Had they gone undetected, it could of developed into cancer.

Everyone should schedule a colonoscopy as soon after their 50th birthday as possible.
