The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees have a well-known, longstanding, often-bitter rivalry. So when a player from either team changes sides, should fans welcome him?

In recent years, it's been hard to find a more hated Red Sox player among New York Yankee fans than Kevin Youkilis. In a new twist, Youkilis, a free agent, has reportedly signed a one year deal with the Yankees. So where does all the hatred from fans go? Does it stick around, or is all forgiven now that he has changed clothes?

He's not the first beloved Red Sox player to do this. Johnny Damon went from Boston to New York in 2006, and Wade Boggs did the same thing in 1993.
