It seems that living in the Evansville and Tri-State area means severe weather can strike at any time on any day of any month.  However, when the beginning of April rolls around, you know that the severe weather season window is opening with storms likely to follow.  Bada-bing, bada-boom, today is April 2 and the severe weather threat is rearing its ugly head, with severe weather as a possibility tomorrow.  That's why, as I was driving through Chandler, this contraption caught my eye.

It's a portable storm shelter.  You dig a hole and put it in your yard, I guess, and you have an instant storm shelter.  I don't know how much these contraptions cost, but if you don't have a basement, it probably is worth what they want for it.  Jenny and I had our house built with a basement for a number of reasons, this being one reason why we did.

Severe weather season heightens our awareness of things like shelters and having a family disaster plan.  If you need help with either of these, here are some links you should check out.
