For most first time directors, attracting big names to your movie is a huge challenge, but when you are a first-time director who also happens to be Ryan Gosling, you probably have to beat back the talent with an oar or something. The latest piece of the 'How to Catch a Monster' ensemble is the increasingly busy Oscar nominee, Saoirse Ronan.

Although the details about 'How to Catch a Monster' remain under guard, we know that it's a combination of fairy tales and noir about a woman who "is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town." Ronan joins a cast that already includes Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Matt Smith. With a line-up that solid, we can only hope that Gosling knows what he's doing behind the camera.

Ronan has kept extremely busy since her Oscar nomination for 'Atonement' back in 2007, starring in 'Hanna,' 'The Lovely Bones' and 'The Way Back.' You can see her in 'The Host' next month and she's set to start filming Wes Anderson's 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' later this year. In other words, we're shocked that she found to time to actually sign on the dotted line for Mr. Gosling.

'How to Catch a Monster' begins filming in May.
