Heading downtown for the Trump Rally? Here's where to park and what streets to avoid. The visit by 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, is expected to cause a number of road closures in downtown Evansville and a lot of people who are either attending in support or protest, will be looking for a place to park. The city is expecting not only thousands inside the Ford Center but also thousands outside as well.

The Evansville Police Department issued a statement this morning outlining those closures as well as offering suggestions on parking. Traffic restrictions and road closures for the rally will go into effect Thursday morning. (These are in addition to the other downtown road closures related to Evansville Hydrofest.) The stretch of Main Street directly in front of Ford Center will be restricted to pedestrian traffic only, according to the EPD. As for parking, you will be able to park in the Civic Center parking lot often referred to as the "back 40" as well as the city owned parking garages at the following locations:

  • 6th & Sycamore
  • 5th & Locust
  • 3rd & Locust

It should be noted that these parking areas have over 1,500 spaces for public parking but will likely not be enough to cover the influx of traffic to downtown. I would suggest that you 1) get down there early and 2) carpool if possible.
