A principal for a southwestern Indiana elementary school has been dismissed from his duties by a local school board because he allegedly falsified student attendance records.

According to reports, the Pike County School Board made the decision to fire Otwell Elementary School principal Rick Fears not only for altering attendance reports, but also for not performing mandatory teacher evaluations and violating privacy laws associated with standardized testing.

Attorney Mark Phillips says he believed that Fears was going to be reinstated after the board hearing meeting last week, and was shocked to hear the board decided to fire him.

A lawsuit is reportedly pending in this case.
