The Evansville Police have been getting reports of several telephone scams.

One scam involves a caller saying that they are from Microsoft and they want you to log into your computer so they can access it remotely. Turning remote control of your computer to someone else will not end well.

In another call, the caller identifies himself as an IRS employee and demands that you pay back taxes. The caller says that the police will arrest you resolve the issue immediately.

There’s also the caller who claims that you made an online purchase with a fraudulent credit card.

The best way to handle scam calls is to hang up as soon as you become suspicious. The longer you stay on the phone, listening to their threats, the more likely you are to fall for the scam.
