Otters Pitcher Chad James Picked Up by Texas Rangers

Less than a week ago, Evansville Otters pitcher, Chad James made headlines as the first pitcher in the 20-year history of the franchise to pitch a no-hitter. It turns out someone noticed as James has had his contract purchased by the Texas Rangers.

The former first round pick of the Florida Marlins in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft, the left-hander played three seasons with the Marlins, reaching as high as Jupiter (MIA, A+) in 2012 before joining the Otters.

James told the Evansville Otters website, “It has been an amazing opportunity to play with the Otters, I’m super pumped about starting my career with the Rangers.”

He went on to say how much he appreciated the Otters organization and his teammates has he begins the transition back to the big leagues.

“The team here is awesome and I couldn’t have asked for more,” added James. “I want to thank Andy for believing in me. It was great to play for Andy and he always had my back. It’s hard to find teammates like the ones I have here with the Otters. I know the team will continue to do well without me and I’m looking forward to them winning a championship.”

The Otters on enjoying a few days off for the all-star break, with three players in the lineup for the East Division All-Stars. They return home to Bosse Field this Friday evening with a three-game home stand against the Southern Illinois Miners.
