The Evansville IceMen announced via press release on Thursday the work visa for new head coach Al Sims has been finalized in time for Coach to make his debut with the team Friday night versus Missouri.

Sims was announced as the team's new head coach on New Year's Day after it was determined that a 9-16-2-2 start to the season wasn't satisfactory enough to warrant keeping former head coach, Dwight Mullins on board.

The Toronto native boasts an impressive resume as both a player and coach that includes playing 476 regular season and 40 playoff games in the NHL for the Boston Bruins where he served as Bobby Orr’s defensive partner, Hartford Whalers, and Los Angeles Kings.

His coaching career includes stints in the NHL as the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks, along with two different runs with the Fort Wayne Komets where he won league championships during the 1992-93, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2012-13 seasons.
