Mayor Lloyd Winnecke was recognized for his work in the advancement of human and civil rights in the Evansville area on Monday as the recipient of the Indiana Consortium of State and Local Human Rights Agencies' Lugar/Bayh Award.

According to Diane Clements-Boyd, Executive Director of the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Human Relations Commission, the award "was created to recognize a government official who has provided leadership in the areas of civil and human rights. The senators represented by the award while in the senate supported legislation that provided equal opportunities to minorities, women and the aged. Their dedication to protecting and providing human rights is the measure by which the organization seeks to honor those who are representative of all people."

The City of Evansville Twitter account announced the Mayor's recognition through their Twitter account.

Congratulations to Mayor Winnecke on his achievement!
