After sitting empty for over two years during construction of the Ford Center, the former location of the old Executive Hotel parking garage at the intersection of Walnut and 6th Streets will be the new home of a Hilton Double Tree hotel.

During a press conference Monday morning, Mayor Winnecke announced that an agreement had been made with Branson, Missouri based developer, HCW for the project which is reported to feature a 250 room hotel, an apartment tower, and restaurant.

The $74 million dollar project requires approval from the Evansville City Council which is expected to vote on the proposal during their August 26th session. Once approved, officials hope to break ground on the project by the end of the year with a open for business target date of 2015.
