6-year-old Carmine Pate definitely kept his word and raised "a whole lot of money" for St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee over the past week and a half.  The small Kentucky boy raised $540 for the one-of-a-kind children's hospital.

The Spottsville Elementary student took part in the school's Math-a-Thon to raise money for the hospital which cares for children stricken with cancer and their families.

Carmine brought the Math-a-Thon pamphlet home to his mother, Charlie, around the 12th of September - telling her it made him sad to think the children of St Jude had to live without hair and take medicine that makes them sick just to get better.  Carmine was determined to raise, "a whole lot of money" for the children of St Jude - and so he did.
