Do better, Kentucky.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund released its annual US animal protection laws ranking report, and Kentucky comes in dead last. 50th place.

However, this shouldn't come as a huge shock, because Kentucky has ranked last for the last 12 years.

One reason Kentucky ranks last is because veterinarians cannot report suspected abuse, and there’s no laws against sexual assault of animals.

It looks like they should take a page from Illinois' book, seeing as though they ranked #1 for 11 years straight.

Indiana holds the #10 spot, which isn't awful, but could surely use improvement.

Some of the worst ranked states also include Mississippi (49), Iowa (48), Utah (47), and New Mexico (46).

Louisiana (7) and Massachusetts (5) were the most-improved states in 2018.

If you're interested in helping make a change, consider funding the ASPCA. Or, contact your state government officials and express your concern. While you're at it, sign this petition.
