Two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain has now entered into discussions to join Christopher Nolan's next picture 'Interstellar.' If she takes the part she'll join Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway in this secretive science fiction film.

Not much is known about Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar' (not for lack of trying), but Chastain would be the third lead according to Deadline, who say that "the ambition is (that the) film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding."

Chastain went from being a virtual unknown to having seven roles in 2011, including her Oscar-nominated turn in 'The Help' and in Terrence Malick's Palm d'Or-winning 'The Tree of Life,' which she followed up the next year with another Oscar-nominated role in Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty.' So far in 2013 she's only appeared in 'Mama,' while she's set to star in Guillermo del Toro's 'Crimson Peak' (though there's no word if the Nolan film would bump her out of it).

For an actress like Chastain this seems like the best possible studio movie. While she's done commercial films like 'Mama,' she's yet to take part in a superhero film (though she nearly appeared in 'Iron Man 3'), and an original film like this seems the best way to stay a serious actress, yet still work in an A-list movie.
