I blogged about this a while back and now it's here.  Beginning Saturday, Hoosiers will be in a "permissive dialing" situation, a six-month period where you can still dial the seven-digit numbers you've been dialing, but you should begin dialing the ten-digit (area code + number) to get into the habit.  Forcing yourself to dial the ten-digit now will have you ready for the mandatory switch beginning September 6.

Don't worry about the difference between local and long distance calls.  Local calls will still be local despite the ten-digit dialing.

I'm already doing the complete ten-digit dialing just to get used to it.  Then I won't give it a second thought come September.  They don't call me "Boy Scout" around the station for nothing.
