An Indiana State Trooper was shot multiple times this afternoon while responding to a robbery at a gun shop in Montgomery. Trooper Jarrod Lents is being treated at Deaconess Hospital at Evansville for nonlife-threatening injuries.

State Police say that Lents responded to a report of a robbery in progress at Black Oak Armaments Gun Shop at about 1:35 this afternoon.

The trooper and the suspect exchanged gunfire. Lents was reported hit multiple times but his gunfire reportedly killed the robbery suspect who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the identity of the robbery suspect.

Lents, a nine-year veteran trooper, was flown by medical helicopter to Deaconess Hospital.
