INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Supporters and opponents of an expanded LGBT civil rights protections plan to hold rallies at the Statehouse on Tuesday. Republicans are uncomfortable with the issue because it drives a wedge between two pillars of the GOP base. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce supports the idea. But many religious conservatives remain opposed.

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana school district's new mascot will become the Redhawks next year when its nearly 90-year-old Redskins moniker retires. The Goshen school board voted Monday to adopt the Redhawks mascot after deciding in July to stop using the Redskins nickname out of respect for Native Americans. The Redhawks graphic was created by a 2005 Goshen High School graduate.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Nasser Paydar is being installed as the fifth chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie is scheduled to preside over the ceremony Tuesday. Purdue University President Mitch Daniels will speak. Robbie has praised Paydar as an able leader who has a deep understanding of IU's goals and mission.

FISHERS, Ind. (AP) — Construction work is set to start next spring on a project to add lanes to a busy section of Interstate 69 north of Indianapolis. The work will be done under an $85 million contract and is expected to take two years to complete. The project includes redesigning the Campus Parkway interchange in Noblesville near the Klipsch Music Center amphitheater.
