Well, today is Election Day for the 2014 mid-term election, the polls are closed and I could not be happier to see it go for one simple reason...the negative attack ads that go on between candidates anymore that having nothing to do with the issues or solutions to the problems. It's all about tearing down the other's integrity and character. In no other race was this more prevalent than the Kentucky Senate race between Mitch McConnell and challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes.  Notice I left out party affiliation for both candidates? I did that because this crap happens on both sides of the aisle, and both parties are equally guilty.

The campaign between the two was ugly and absolutely shameful. Neither one gave any insight whatsoever as to how they could help fix any of the issues; they just hit each other like an MMA Championship fight with the intent to hurt and smear.

Hearing these ads on the radio and seeing them on television gets nauseating after a while, and voters simply just tune out...and in some cases, won't even vote because of the negative ads and smear campaigns. This is the very core of voter apathy, which is the root cause of low voter turnout time and time again.

Whatever happened to campaigning on issues and how you differ from your opponent? Why is the voting public exposed to these outrageous smear campaigns in their ads that completely demonize the other guy having nothing at all to do with the issues or even the facts? These attacks are vicious, mean spirited, disgusting and a complete misrepresentation of the person being smeared, not to mention the actual truth!

At this point, I would like to add that I am not targeting Mitch McConnell or Alison Lundergan Grimes.  They are just the best examples of this right now because their campaign was so bitter and it was impossible to turn on the radio or the TV and NOT hear their ads.

The ads for any campaign anymore center solely around the ability to make your opponent look like the biggest scumbag that has ever walked the earth....period!

We are seeing it right now in Washington between the Republicans and Democrats. Neither side will budge on their party's view, and they spend all their time blaming the other side instead of really trying to do something significant for the American people. While THEY are posturing, WE are struggling to make ends meet and feed our families and its plain to see that the people who are supposed to care about us, our leaders, don't!

We apparently live in a world where political victories come to those who are the best character assassins and that is not only sad, but extremely troubling and dangerous. I challenge any politician to tell me what they think the real issues are, instead of telling me who is to blame for it.....I would bet they can't. What do you think?
