As far as one-room thrillers go, you don't get much crazier or ambitious than 'Grand Piano,' which sees Elijah Wood spending the bulk of the running time sitting behind the titular instrument. If you're curious how such a thing is possible, the new trailer for the film should fill in some blanks. You see, this isn't just a movie about a disgraced master pianist (Wood) making his grand comeback, this is a movie about a disgraced master pianist making his grand comeback while a sniper (John Cusack) threatens to kill him if he misses a single note.

Call it 'Speed' with a piano or 'Phone Booth' in a concert hall, but this tightly wound, crazy and wildly entertaining thriller rightfully blew the roof off the theater at Austin's genre film festival, Fantastic Fest, where it snagged distribution and a whole bunch of positive buzz (although you can read our own Britt Hayes' more mixed review right here). While the film asks you to believe a lot of stuff that just doesn't seem remotely possible, 'Grand Piano' uses its near real-time scenario to move without looking back, sprinting through incredible set pieces while using Wood's strong performance as an anchor.

Here's the official synopsis:

Tom Selznick, the most talented pianist of his generation, stopped performing in public because of his stage fright. Years after a catastrophic performance, he reappears in public in a long-awaited concert in Chicago. In a packed theater, in front of the expectant audience, Tom finds a message written on the score: "Play one wrong note and you die." Without leaving the piano, Tom must discover the anonymous sniper's motives and look for help without anyone realizing...

'Grand Piano' arrives in theaters on March 7, 2014. Do yourself a favor and make some time for it.
