The “Wash Away Alzheimer’s” dog wash benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th from 9 am until 12 noon at the North Green River Road Pet Food Center. Home Instead Senior Care staff will be on-site washing dogs. A $10 donation per dog is requested, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association. Pet Food Center will provide its pet wash center, shampoo, and towels.

The fight against Alzheimer’s disease is heartfelt for the Pet Food Center’s Mike Stepto. His father-in-law, Alan Nunn, passed away while battling the dreaded disease. Nunn was the founder of the Pet Food Center. “We are proud to be partnering with Home Instead Senior Care for this very important fundraising event”, Stepto said. “Every little bit helps, so we invite everyone with a four-legged friend who could use a bath to come out on the 24th to support this great cause.”

The number of Americans living with Alzheimer's disease is growing — and growing fast. An estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's disease in 2016. Currently, one in nine people age 65 and older has Alzheimer's disease. It is projected that by 2050, the number of people 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease will nearly triple.
